Our Story
Founded in 2005, El Escondido is a family owned and operated business that started as a small taco stand in Boyle Heights, California. Prior to the founding of El Escondido, the owner accumulated over 20 years of cooking experience in several Mexican restaurants and tacos stands.
The name “El Escondido” was coined after the seemingly hidden location of the original taco stand in Boyle Heights. Those that stumbled into the taco stand quickly found themselves becoming frequent customers.
After 10 years of serving our loyal customers at the taco stand, the first restaurant was opened in South Central, California. Tacos El Escondido’s success is accredited to the hard working employees, loyal customers, and loving family passionate about the food behind the name.
